When the rain comes, washes and cleanses
Friday was a warm, hot day, but it was also a day when the rain came even though for a brief 45 mins. It came and washed away the tempers, washed away the grime that had been accumulated for the last 2 weeks, it was a cool change. A refreshing one - nothing short of a gift from God.
I guess I was lucky that day, as much as there was chance for me to bump into a meanie and ruin the mood I was in, God sent a nice lady who offered to share her umbrella to shelter me from UOB building to the gym...she even offered to wait with me at the traffic light till the light turned green so that I wouldn't be that wet. What a nice lady. I'm so glad that the rain came. It was cool and nice...making the weather just right and cool for the chingay preview.
So Singaporeans can be nice if we wanted to be. We can be not-kiasu if we wanted to be too. I think it's not fault that we are though. That it's so ingrained in us...that somehow it's one of those things that's so hard to not conform too. Like Singlish, it's part of us. I have to attribute what we have achieved partly to that.
Although mediocrity is always the best though.
