Friday..
PRATA & US..IT WAS THE COMPANY

i didn't do anything much this week. i spent alot of time thinking though. thinking about home, thinking about how fortunate i was to get a trip back, even though it was just for a mere 27 days. i'm thankful it lasted almost a month..at least one day short of a whole of Feburary i reckon. I wonder if anyone understands, but i don't think anyone really will. I can't really articulate what i feel properly, so i reckon that that could be the reason, but also sometimes, i just don't wanna bother too much. i think it'll be easier when you're with people whom understands the vibes that you give off.
i think the highlight of my whole trip back was the welcome i got from my mom, dad and sisters, including that of the few friends that mattered to me. It wasn't all the huge meals i had, rather it was the company, the thought. I was so touched when mum handed me the egg tarts that dad bought the day before, yanyi and yanling with my ya-kun toast and gloria with my huge cup of starbucks. Then there was the lovingly made dinners by po-po and daddy, and mum's "she instructed, muthi made dessert", dad's salmon, my 5 mooncakes on the last day, the tsui hang red bean pancake that i swear by now, the time when mum called and asked if i would like coffee, yanyi's hello panda fiasco, yanyi, yanling and my huge karoke session, the dinners i had at the hospital. It wasn't the food, it was the company. I loved seeing the whole family stuff ourselves with prata and MILO DINOSAURS. (i'm sure mum smirked with flourish when the guy came with a "less sugar" milo dinosaur)
everyone coming to hospital to take turns to accompany po-po, reminded me how close the family was. yi-yi reiterating endlessly about how i OUGHT to only marry a doctor marred any sense of sadness that was in the hospital ward.
maybe that's why everything now reminds me of home. because i was revealed a sight, an insight that i had missed and failed to realise. i think it takes stepping out of the picture to realise it. it made me even more certain that i would want to protect my family in the best way i could. seeing po-po helpless brought me close to devastation.
so thats why i have to say thank you. Thank you for a trip back, thank you for helping me put on 5 kilos mum and dad
[that probably accounts for why my suitcases became so much heavier =)]
and it meant alot that i got a "thank you" from you mummy, and all the 50 cent ang ku kueh from you daddy, and yes all the fun i had.
- i will survive 4 more months -
